About Anabaptist Discipleship Center

Walking with individuals and communities toward biblical discipleship and spiritual maturity.

Our Mission

ADC exists to assist communities of faith in developing biblical discipleship by offering sanctuary to the hurting, training Anabaptist disciplers, and walking with individuals through progressive sanctification toward spiritual maturity.

Who We Are

Rooted in the Anabaptist tradition, we are a team of trained counselors and disciplers committed to Christ-centered care. We serve individuals, couples, families, and churches by providing counseling, intensives, and consulting.

Our Core Values

Christ-Centered

Our counseling approach is centered on Jesus Christ and saturated by the gospel. We believe that Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection for sinful humanity provide the way for humanity to be reconciled to God, offering hope and power in the midst of suffering and sin. In every situation, our counselors bring this life-altering gospel to bear, calling the sinner and sufferer to focus their eyes on Jesus, who provides hope, rest, and healing in a broken world. Our counselors are trained to exhibit godly character and counseling competence, following the example of Jesus in His life and ministry. We aim to guide individuals toward true transformation through Jesus and His work, not through a program, system, or counselor.

Biblically-Grounded

Our counseling approach is governed by the comprehensive counseling framework and methodology revealed in Scripture. To put it another way, “the Bible is the driving force, the builder, and the engine” of our approach to soul care. We believe that God has given us, in His Word, all that we need to be complete and “equipped for every good work” as we wrestle with sin, suffering, oppression, and weakness. While we recognize the limitations of extra-biblical observations, we carefully engage with credible research—interpreted through a biblical lens and subjugated to Scripture—as a means of sharpening our skill and understanding in soul care. This posture allows us to wisely engage God’s world while remaining anchored in God’s Word. At the same time, our counseling is fully dependent on and empowered by the Holy Spirit. We believe that true life transformation depends upon the ministry of the Holy Spirit, who illuminates our understanding of the Word and empowers its application in everyday life. As such, we acknowledge the essential role of prayer in our counseling care. Dependent prayer is a vital part of our approach, as our counselors humbly seek God’s intervention and guidance in each situation, desiring that you experience true transformation for the glory of God.

Heart-Oriented

While we recognize and address the shaping influence of life circumstances, family background, cultural context, and physical challenges, our approach is heart-oriented—for out of the heart flows the issues of life. Our counselors aim to truly know you and to walk with you in your struggles, gently calling you to deeper love for God and others. While offering the hope of rest in Jesus and his work, they will help you examine your beliefs, desires, thoughts, emotions, and actions, guiding you to reflect Christ more fully.

Proverbs 4:23, Luke 6:43-45, 2 Corinthians 5:9, Matthew 22:38-40

Suffering-Sensitive

Our counseling approach cares deeply about the suffering and oppression people face in a world broken by sin. We believe God’s heart is moved by those who are hurting. Our counselors are trained to respond with compassion and to point people to Jesus, who is gentle and lowly in heart. We also recognize that while some issues distinctly relate to the soul or the body, many of the challenges people face impact both the body and soul. Our counselors are trained to be aware of the body, enabling them to provide compassionate, biblically grounded soul care, while also addressing physiological responses when appropriate and collaborating with qualified professionals when necessary.

Church-Embedded

Our counseling is embedded in the life of the church—the place where broken people walk together in love, using their gifts for the good of the body. We encourage connection to your local church and the involvement of an advocate throughout the counseling process. In concluding sessions, we help develop a support network within your church and community to carry on soul care beyond counseling.
